October is National Employee Ownership Month, also known as ESOPtober, and Lerch Bates hosted a series of webinars, games, happy hours and spirit days throughout the month to celebrate what it means to be employee-owned.

During week one, we honored our core value of Respect by playing ESOP-themed BINGO and writing letters of appreciation to our fellow employee-owners. Week two focused on Ownership, a trait we each embody as equal owners of the Lerch Bates Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and the ownership mindset that we bring to every project by hosting a webinar titled, “What Does the ESOP Mean to You?” featuring Kevin Thompson, Matt Mittelstet, Frank Krech and Stefanie Schober who each provided their personal perspective on how the ESOP impacts their everyday work, their personal retirement plans and much more.

Weeks three and four were centered around Integrity and Community, respectively, with a fireside chat moderated by CFO and recent VQB Winner John Arther, who facilitated an engaging conversation between ESOP Contributor of the Year Ryan Baker, former VQB winner Heath Hayes and Group Award representative Mark Howell called “What You Do Matters” along with pumpkin decorating and a LB meme contest.

Last but not least, Lerch Bates concentrated on our core value of Optimism during week five of ESOPtober and had a blast dressing in our best costumes and celebrating Halloween across all of our offices.

Employee ownership is integral to who we are as a company. It was wonderful to take some extra time to celebrate all the benefits of being an ESOP this month.
