Mark Howell

Mark brings a rich construction heritage, shaped by a family of builders, including a renowned home-builder grandfather and a Union Carpenter father. By age 25, he was Vice President of a Philadelphia masonry restoration firm, guiding its shift to a union company. In 1999, he acquired the firm and launched a design-build consulting business focused on building envelopes. After closing both in 2004, he joined a national restoration company, leading its Building Envelope Solutions Group and expanding its commercial market, while establishing a union office in NYC and hosting national summits for industry education. 

In 2016, Mark co-founded a Building Enclosure Consulting firm, becoming President in 2023. He now oversees a 40+ member team across the mid-Atlantic, driving preservation projects for historic and modern structures, and serving as a subject matter expert. A long-time SWRI member and the only Associate & Contractor Board Member, he also contributes to ASTM E6 and has taught at Harford Community College. Mark actively supports industry education through AIA CE programs and affiliations with IIBEC, APT, CAI, BOMA, and ICRI.
