Team LB member, C. Bruce Christman Jr., recently spoke about Building Energy Performance Standards, and how Lerch Bates sets your building up for future success, to members of the Maryland and Washington D.C. APPA chapter at The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.

What are Building Energy Performance Standards?

BEPS are legally binding requirements that convert building performance into a measurable financial and compliance metric.
  • Applies to existing commercial buildings above jurisdictional thresholds
  • Tied to energy use intensity (EUI) and/or carbon intensity (GHG per SF)
  • Escalating performance cycles (typically 5-year compliance periods)
  • Enforcement through fines, public disclosure and mandated upgrades

How can Lerch Bates help?

Through Property Condition Assessments and Benchmarking, Lerch Bates helps you perform the initial steps that will set your building up for success and compliance. Our Building Science and Building Flow teams work together to provide Total Building Performance™.
