After 2020, half of the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel’s escalators and elevators were inoperable. In efforts to rectify this issue, Lerch Bates provided new equipment design services for 36 escalators and 22 elevators for Seattle’s Rapid Transit system as a part of Sound Transit’s plan to upkeep the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel.
