Antakya, Turkey
The project started as a five-star hotel but significant archaeological artifacts were found as soon as excavation began. The double nature of the project, combining a hotel and a museum, became the driving force, as were the ancient ruins. Rather than a compact volume, individual programmatic elements spread across the site under a protective canopy. The precise location of the archaeological findings dictated the complex process of locating supporting columns for the elevated structure. The project includes stick system curtain walls, conventional windows, and metal and ceramic cladding.
