About this project

18 Sixth Avenue – Pacific Park B4 Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) Device Project

18 Sixth Avenue was developed in a joint venture between Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners. The beautiful glass and green design by Perkins Eastman will hold 858 units over 49 stories. The tallest building at the Pacific Park megadevelopment is estimated for completion in 2022. At nearly 800,000 SF and over 500 feet tall, B4 is the largest of the Pacific Park apartment towers on the 22-acre development rising over LIRR’s Atlantic Yards.

B4 ranks among the top ten tallest buildings in the Brooklyn borough and the vertical transportation systems have a crucial obligation to support the movement of tenants and visitors. The building will use 12 elevators installed by TEI Group containing a mix of Hydraulic, Machine-Room-Less (MRL) and Overhead Traction configurations operating at speeds of up to 1000 FPM. The VT design was a close collaboration between Lerch Bates, Perkins Eastman, Greenland and Brodsky. Lerch Bates will also conduct the commissioning of the VT equipment to ensure a seamless transition from construction to operations for tenant use. Lerch Bates designed and will commission the Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) device, which will be integral in maintaining the unique and elegant glass facade.
