Michael Frech is the Executive Vice President of Building Science for Lerch Bates, where he leads the firm’s multidisciplinary Building Science practice in delivering high-performance, resilient, and sustainable solutions across the built environment. With nearly 30 years of experience in the AEC and building science industries, Mike brings deep technical expertise combined with a proven record of operational leadership, growth, and team development.

 

Mike’s career began in the field, giving him firsthand insight into construction means, methods, and real-world problem solving before progressing into project management and executive leadership roles. Over the past decade, he has led regional and national teams with responsibility for both revenue growth and people development, driving organizational transformation and operational excellence across diverse markets.

 

At Lerch Bates, Mike oversees Building Science services including enclosure and façade consulting, waterproofing, building enclosure commissioning (BECx), forensics, testing and observations, property condition assessments, sustainable building solutions, and indoor environmental quality. His leadership focuses on integrating technical rigor with practical execution to help clients protect, optimize, and extend the performance of their real estate assets.

 

Mike is known for his mentorship-driven leadership style and commitment to building strong teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
