Msheireb, Heart of Doha Pedestrian Circulation

The select list competition was focused on drawing from Qatari culture to create public furnishings on the streets, plazas and public transportation corridors of the new “Heart of Doha”. The design team visited numerous cultural sites in Qatar and researched the history of the area and the ever-evolving traditions and habits of the people to create contextual public furnishings. The final collection is a rich and diverse group of design solutions that meld well with the architecture and create wonderment as pedestrians pass through this unique urban environment.
