Lerch Bates was retained to assess a single story mixed-use commercial building in Wisconsin following a fire to determine the extent of the fire damage. The building was undergoing construction of an addition at the time of the loss. The original portion of the building was constructed with pre-cast concrete exterior wall and interior floor panels, while the addition was a wood-framed construction. The roof over both portions of the building were also wood-framed.
Based on the site observation, Lerch Bates concluded that the building incurred extensive structural damage to the wood elements as a result of the fire. The concrete elements were determined to be salvageable, experiencing cosmetic damage but no cracking that would compromise the structure. Lerch Bates provided repair recommendations to address both the fire damage and subsequent water damage from the roof loss.
