Lerch Bates has been named Best Consultancy for the fifth time by Elevator World readers and followers, a recognition that honors North American elevator and escalator industry organizations that demonstrate exceptional service, expertise and commitment to their clients and communities. Lerch Bates earned the distinction through nominations and votes from industry professionals, clients, partners and peers.
As the firm approaches its 80th anniversary in 2027, the award reinforces Lerch Bates’s longstanding leadership in vertical transportation consulting and reflects the trust the firm has built throughout its eight decades of service to building owners, developers, architects, and facility managers worldwide.

“Lerch Bates was founded on elevator consulting, and that foundation remains at the heart of who we are today,” said Heath Hayes, Executive Vice President of Building Flow. “This award is especially meaningful because it comes from our industry partners and peers. It recognizes our dedication to our roots and our continued leadership in the vertical transportation arena. I am incredibly proud of our team and grateful to the clients, partners and peers who voted for us.”

Lerch Bates provides elevator and escalator consulting services throughout the lifecycle of a building, including planning and design, modernization consulting, inspections, maintenance management, traffic analysis, due diligence assessments, and expert witness services. The firm’s multidisciplinary approach and deep technical expertise help clients maximize safety, performance and long-term value in their vertical transportation systems.

According to Elevator World, the Ellies Awards celebrate companies that go above and beyond for their customers, employees, communities and the industry. Lerch Bates was previously recognized in the Best Consultancy category five times, demonstrating the firm’s continued reputation for excellence.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our employee-owners and the confidence our clients place in us every day,” said Eric Rupe, CEO of Lerch Bates. “While Lerch Bates has evolved into a multidisciplinary consulting firm, our roots in vertical transportation remain incredibly important to us. Being recognized by our peers as the industry’s leading consultancy is a tremendous honor and a testament to the culture of excellence our people bring to every project. This Ellies Award serves as a reflection of our commitment to technical excellence, innovation and partnership.”

Founded in 1947 as the nation’s first elevator consulting firm, Lerch Bates has expanded its services to provide expertise across the many building systems that impact tenant and user satisfaction, longevity and ROI. The firm’s employee-owners continue to build on that legacy by delivering independent, trusted consulting solutions that help clients make informed decisions and create better-performing buildings.
