Celebrating Women in Engineering: Stefanie Schober’s Leadership Journey at Lerch Bates

Each year, International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) recognizes the achievements of women who are shaping the future of the built environment and advancing innovation across the engineering industry. Founded by the Women’s Engineering Society, INWED is a global movement dedicated to elevating the visibility, impact, and leadership of women in engineering.

At Lerch Bates, we’re proud to celebrate the women who strengthen our firm and our industry every day—and to recognize one leader whose career exemplifies that impact.

Honoring a Leader in Building Enclosure Consulting

We are excited to announce the promotion of Stefanie Schober, P.E., to Area Manager for the Building Science Texas team, a milestone that reflects both her technical expertise and her leadership within our organization.

Based in Austin, Stefanie serves within Lerch Bates’ Building Enclosure & Structural Consulting practice, where she has played a key role in advancing our capabilities in façade engineering, enclosure design, and operational leadership.

Throughout her career at Lerch Bates, Stefanie has been known for her ability to bridge technical rigor with practical application—guiding clients through complex building enclosure challenges while mentoring colleagues and strengthening team performance.

A Career Built on Expertise, Collaboration, and Ownership

Stefanie’s path reflects the evolution of a modern engineering leader. From her early technical roles to leading operations for the Enclosure Design & Consulting group, she has consistently demonstrated:

  • Deep expertise in building enclosure systems, including façade performance, material selection, and long-term asset strategy
  • Operational leadership, helping scale teams and deliver high-performance outcomes across projects
  • A commitment to collaboration across disciplines, supporting integrated solutions for developers, architects, and building owners
  • A strong embodiment of Lerch Bates’ employee ownership mindset, where individual contributions directly drive collective success

This combination of technical excellence and leadership has positioned Stefanie as a trusted advisor to clients and a mentor to emerging engineers within the firm.

Advancing Engineering Leadership at Lerch Bates

Stefanie’s promotion to Area Manager reflects more than individual achievement—it represents the continued growth of Lerch Bates’ multidisciplinary consulting platform and the strength of our engineering leadership pipeline.

Her leadership helps advance our work across:

  • Building enclosure consulting and façade system performance
  • Lifecycle asset management and capital planning strategies
  • Integrated building engineering services supporting complex developments

These services are critical to helping our clients design, build, and maintain high-performing buildings—while managing risk and optimizing long-term value.

Celebrating Women in Engineering

On International Women in Engineering Day, we recognize not only Stefanie’s accomplishments, but also the broader contributions of women across Lerch Bates and the global engineering community.

From advancing technical innovation to leading multidisciplinary teams, women in engineering continue to shape stronger, more resilient, and more sustainable built environments.

At Lerch Bates, we are committed to fostering an environment where engineers at every stage of their career can grow, lead, and make an impact—and where diverse perspectives strengthen the solutions we deliver to our clients.
