Meet Darren Hawkins, Vertical Transportation Consultant for Lerch Bates Europe with more than 30 years of lift industry experience. Beginning his career within his family-owned lift business, Darren established a strong technical foundation in vertical transportation from an early stage.

Darren subsequently progressed to the installation division of a major lift company, where he further developed his technical capabilities, professional qualifications, and project delivery expertise. This experience enabled his transition into commissioning and the management of major projects.

 

In his current role, Darren specialises in lift installation, modernisation and maintenance management, supported by vast experience in project and resource planning. His comprehensive understanding of the full lift lifecycle enables him to provide informed, practical solutions across a wide range of project types.

 

Over the course of his career, Darren has worked with a variety of clients across multiple sectors, including:

    • Defence & Communications: Babcock & Goonhilly Earth Station and British Telecom
    • Social & Private Housing and Hotels: Marriot, Premier Inn and Travelodge
    • Hospitals & Medical Institutions: Camborne, Torbay, Royal Cornwall and North Devon
    • Retail: WestQuay Southampton Shopping Centre, Orchard Shopping Centre Taunton, Broad Street Mall Reading
    • Banking: Barclays, NatWest, Nationwide, Standard Chartered and RBS
    • Education: Exeter University, Plymouth University and Reading University
