Residential buildings come in all shapes and sizes, from mid-rise complexes to mixed use facilities to high rise towers. While the activity levels in a residential development may not be equal to that of a commercial building, the same attention to detail and thought through design approach is equally important. Residents spend a great deal of time in their homes and have high expectations of the performance of the building services around them. As designers we are expected to make full use of new technologies and “green” principles when addressing design solutions for these most personal of buildings. As infrastructure ages and redevelopment takes hold in our urban centers, modernization and upgrading of building services are critical components in the ongoing success of existing building.
