Chris Moulder

Chris Moulder joined Pie Consulting & Engineering, now Lerch Bates, in 2008 as a Forensic Specialist where he provided forensic engineering and consulting services involving structural, civil, and property damage claims. The clients Chris has served include attorneys, insurance companies, general contractors, homeowners, and building owners. Chris’s technical expertise includes forensic investigation and assessment of damage caused by failed building systems, snow, wind, fire, flood, tornado, earthquakes, blasting, vehicle impacts, construction defects, plumbing failures, sinkhole collapse, expansive soils, and consolidating soils. He specializes in providing structural and architectural recommendations and plans for the repair and cost estimation of damage. Chris possesses highly proficient knowledge in building envelope, structural and civil engineering and in the analysis of civil/structural failures. Chris’s has extensive experience in structural and civil rehabilitation of multiple projects ranging in size from single-family to multi-family residential structures, as well as commercial and municipal buildings. His work on these projects includes: expert witness services for both plaintiff and defense, forensic analysis, full rehabilitation design of building envelope, roof, foundation and framing elements, and preparation of repair plans, repair compliance observations and warranty service observations and analysis. Prior to joining Pie, Chris provided structural design of framing and foundation systems for single and multi-family homes from conceptual to design through construction completion. Additionally, he conducted forensic engineering investigations on multiple building types and oversaw structural repair operations. He also worked in the commercial construction industry as a pipe fitter and welder after serving honorably on active duty in the U.S. Marines.
