The WHR Architects-designed The Methodist Hospital (TMH), the largest facility solely dedicated to patient care in the renowned Texas Medical Center, held its official ribbon cutting on July 13. With 760,000 square feet dedicated to patient care, the architecture and interiors incorporate multiple elements of healing design in keeping with the hospital’s philosophy and its vision for the outpatient center.

“We have had the good fortune to work with the dedicated team at TMH to help them realize their goal of providing progressive, personalized, quality care that sets a new standard in healthcare delivery,” says WHR President and Chairman David Watkins, FAIA. “Our medical planners, architects, interior designers, and Genesis’ medical technology planners have been part of the process from the early benchmarking studies of the other outpatient centers, through design and construction to the final preparations for the opening.”

The new 26-floor facility was designed to address multiple programmatic demands on a constrained site, as well as offering 1,370 parking spaces. Among the specialties it houses are audiology, breast care, oncology, cardiology, imaging, labs, surgery, pharmacy, and wellness services.
