David Long joined Lerch Bates in 2008 having spent 32 years working with firms within the lift industry.
During his apprenticeship he gained his City & Guilds and HNC in Elecrical Engineering, as well as BTEC qualifications in Lift Technology and Commercial Contracting.
He moved into middle management with Schindler in 1988 and held various positions in the fields of maintenance and modernisation. His role developed to Operations Manager, responsible for the business in Scotland and Northern Ireland. During this period he studied for an MBA at Glasgow Caledonian University and Graduated in 2004.
He joined ThyssenKrupp Elevator in 2006 as Branch Manager in Glasgow and progressed to Regional Manager in Scotland, during which time he chaired the Employee's Safety Committee.
Throughout his career he has worked with a large scope of clients including Marks & Spencer, British Energy, UKAEA, University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow, & RBS.
