Stuart McGregor has over 25 years experience in the lift industry. During this time, he has worked and been involved in a variety of roles within the industry business sectors.
In 1985 he joined The UK Lift Company as an apprentice. A lift company specialising in the Retail market with a good reputation for training. He remained with this company growing in experience from hands on manufacturing through to technical roles in the design and production offices. Continued professional development resulted in the certified of Higher National Diploma in Engineering.
His Engineering career grew within the Insurance inspection industry where his knowledge of all types of lift and escalator installations, along with code compliance and legislation were continuously challenged. Initially Stuart joined Ajax (owned by Norwich Union) and subsequently bought by Allianz Cornhill Engineering. He spent his final four years at Canary Wharf inspecting high rise lift installations and witnessing the commissioning and testing of many of the fastest lifts in the UK.
Stuart Joined Lerch Bates in 2001, returning to his Retail roots, working for Marks and Spencer and the Prudential (which he retains today to keep the high rise lift connection).
He has played a key role in meeting the requirements of a major retailer’s nationwide expansion plans. Keeping abreast of industry trends and developments, Stuart regularly attends LEIA briefings and contributes to the Safety Federation’s paper on escalator and moving walks.
His current position as Director of modernisation and retail includes the growth of his department and operational responsibilities.
